KTU ranks among the world’s best in eight subjects in QS Rankings 2025

The newly released QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 place KTU among the top 400 universities globally in Materials Science and Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, and among the top 500 in Electrical and Chemical Engineering.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, published on 12 March, assess higher education institutions based on specific fields of study and research. Universities can be ranked in 55 fields of study and five broad areas of science and research.

“Being ranked in the QS World University Rankings by Subject is an important indicator of a university’s strength in specific academic disciplines. Therefore, we are excited that this year, for the first time, KTU was ranked in as many as eight subjects. We are especially proud to climb up the Electrical and Electronic Engineering subject ranks, as the University has been continuously working to strengthen academic excellence in this field,” says Agnė Latvelė, Quality Project Manager at KTU’s Strategy and Quality Management Department.

This year, KTU achieved its highest number of subject rankings in the last five years, securing a place in eight subject areas. It is also the only Lithuanian university ranked in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering subject ranking. Among Lithuanian universities, KTU holds the #1 position in Materials Science and Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject reflect global recognition and academic excellence, evaluating universities based on academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, h-index and international research network (IRN).

For international students, these rankings serve as a key reference when choosing where to study, offering insights into the quality of education and research in their field of interest. Additionally, a strong ranking position enhances a university’s appeal to employers, making its graduates more competitive in the global job market.
