Important | 2026-06-16

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is seeing growing international interest, with the number of applications from prospective international students rising sharply this year. KTU recorded a 49.2% increase in applications compared to last year, and an 80.8% increase compared to the 2021/2022 academic year.

A total of 753 applicants were invited to study at the university, with 284 already admitted.

The largest number of applications was received from Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Algeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Ukraine. KTU has also seen a notable increase in the number of invited students from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Mexico.

“Internationalisation at KTU is a lived experience. We fully understand that the foundation of a global university lies in genuine care for each student. Choosing to study in a new country requires courage, and while this step opens up significant opportunities, it often comes with challenges. At KTU, we strive to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible. During orientation week, we help students integrate, while personal mentors guide them through their first steps at the university. In addition, our International Studies Office provides not only professional consultations on temporary residence permits, but also sincere support,” says Audronė Račkauskienė, Head of the International Studies Office at KTU.

According to Dr Giedrė Šadeikaitė-Gjorsheski, Director of International Relations at KTU, international applicants are increasingly choosing programmes in engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science. She notes that these are the areas where specialists are most needed for Lithuania’s economy and high-tech sector, and that growing interest from Central and Southeast Asia, South America, and Africa shows Lithuania is increasingly recognised as a reliable, safe, and technologically advanced study destination.

KTU’s data also points to clear programme preferences among international applicants. Among bachelor’s programmes, the most popular by number of invited students is Business Digitalization Management, followed by Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aviation Engineering, Robotics, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. At the master’s level, the leading programme is Artificial Intelligence in Computer Science, followed by Food Science and Nutrition, Industrial Biotechnology, Construction Management, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Engineering and Management, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship, and International Business.

Admissions for EU citizens remain open, and prospective students from across Europe are still welcome to apply by 1 July 2026. View our programmes.
