Welcome Week for International Students 2017

Important | 2017-08-17

On Thursday 24 August a Welcome Week for international students arriving to Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) started. You are all invited to take part in your first adventure at the University: to participate in introductory lectures, to gain knowledge about study processes and the University’s life, to join student organizations, to participate in various activities, to meet your colleagues and, of course, to make new friends.

Lectures, discussions, informal get-togethers, tours to Vilnius and to the old capital of Lithuania, Trakai are among the highlights of the 10-day greeting event. The organisers, KTU Department of International Relations, with the help of volunteers will aim to make the start of the new academic year for the international “freshers” as smooth as possible.

Around 150 degree and around 140 exchange students will start their studies at KTU this autumn. This year the geography of degree students has expanded: KTU is welcoming students from such countries as Taiwan, Canada, Ecuador, Cyprus, Guatemala, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Philippines.

The majority of exchange students are coming from Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Turkey. Also, KTU is very popular among Balkan countries, such as Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Slovenia.

With the Welcome Week, a series of events and initiatives for better integration of international students into their new University life starts. They will offer plenty of opportunities for getting to know their new study country, to learn Lithuanian and to find new Lithuanian friends. Department for Internationalisation believes, that the new international students will encourage the senior KTU students (both Lithuanian and international) to choose not traditional university for Erasmus+ exchange studies. KTU proudly announces to have new partners in Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Japan and other countries for students’ exchange (for more information please click ktu.edu/erasmus).
