The NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence and Kaunas University of Technology have signed a Letter of Intent on Cooperation

On the 5th of November, The NATO ENSEC COE and Kaunas University of Technology have signed the Letter of Intent on cooperation.

“This is a very important day. Once again we prove that academia is extremely important in the activities of the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence. This is most obvious in the area of sharing knowledge and expertise. We already are cooperating in practical terms, but now it is official”, the Director of NATO ENSEC COE Colonel Gintaras Bagdonas said.

The Director of ENSEC COE and the Rector of Kaunas University of Technology Petras Baršauskas exchanged the ideas of future practical cooperation in different research and innovation fields. “Innovative ideas in energy sector and cyber security are the questions of the present and the future. They are important not just for the general population but also for the academia. I will do everything in my power that this cooperation with the ENSEC COE would last and would be fruitful”, the Rector said.

According to Baršauskas, the starting collaboration with NATO ENSEC COE is signifying the University’s intensifying cooperation with NATO. Two years ago the former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen was awarded the title of KTU honorary doctor.

After the signing, Col Bagdonas invited the representatives of the University to the ENSEC COE’s conference and industry exhibition Innovative Energy Solutions for Military Applications (IESMA) that will take place in Vilnius on November, 2016.

With the Letter of Intent, parties agreed on the development of mutually beneficial cooperation for integration of science and partnership of closer contact of studies and practice. Also, to create scientific production together, exchange and to organise scientific and technological information, except for the information, which is regarded as confidential at the University.
