Thousands of students from Lithuanian universities, hundreds of business and industry companies and organisations, inspiring speakers and a happy crowd of successful new employees and interns – Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) WANTed Career Days 2017 is the largest career fair in the Baltics. This year’s event is being organised for the 13th time.

This is the first time for the Career Days to take place in autumn, which is the season, when the employees are the most active in recruitment market. The organisers, KTU Career and Education Centre offers a couple of other new initiatives: for the first time, high school students and university graduates are also invited to the Fair, and the companies will be able to offer not only job and internship positions, but also topics for the final thesis projects.

According to Lina Slavickaitė, Head of KTU Career and Education Centre, KTU is aiming to encourage young people to start thinking about their career before entering a university.

“Process of preparation for the career starts even before a high school graduate chooses a further study programme. When a young person knows a study field that is of interest, he or she can choose relevant subjects in school curriculum, to develop additional competencies needed. Therefore, it is important to use all the opportunities. Attending career fairs provides an excellent possibility to get to know job market”, says Slavickaitė.

KTU WANTed Career Days 2017 will take place in Kaunas Žalgiris Arena 17 October. In the Great Hall Career, the companies and organisations will introduce themselves to the potential job seekers in their stands, the possibilities, which open up when companies and organisations cooperate with KTU, will be introduced in the Innovation Avenue on the ground (zero) floor. The participants will be also invited to listen to WANTed Talks – a conference on hot career-related topics, which will take place in Arena’s Amphitheatre Hall.

“The opportunities presented during Career Days are aimed not only to KTU or Kaunas young people, but also to every student or graduate of any Lithuanian school. Kaunas is expanding and developing, it is rapidly becoming a great business centre, attracting global corporations, such as Hollister, Hella, Meridia, which are already looking for employees”, says Slavickaitė.
