Kaunas Architecture Festival’ 2019 starts this weekend

Important | 2019-09-20

Although the events of Kaunas Architecture Festival (KAF’e) will extend through over 2 months, the opening this Saturday, September 21 is not to miss. The opening event will take place in one of Kaunas anti-landmarks, the unfinished Hotel Britanika (the abandoned monolithic structure topped with a longest Lithuanian word Nebeprisikiškiakopūsteliaujantiesiems).

The Kaunas Architecture Festival (KAFe) is only held once in three years, which makes it one of the most awaited events this autumn. It’s not enough to call it ‘event’, though, as the festival will go on for two months and includes various workshops, exhibitions, walks, talks, books presentations and an international forum, Kaunastic informs. The topic of this year’s edition is: “Landmark architecture – creating or destroying the city’s identity?”

Full programme of KAF’e will be published here.

However, we would like to highlight one of the exceptional events organised together with Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) – Herithon’19. KTU, Kaunas 2022, KAFe is inviting those coming from architecture, art, heritage fields to re-think and activate heritage in Kaunas city. Digitizing, alternative mapping, creating digital platforms and transforming objects of architecture are just among the few options that can be explored at the event, which will take place at KTU Campus over the next weekend.
