Earlier this week the Council of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) has decided to extend the application deadline for the position of KTU Rector for two more months. The potential candidates can apply until Monday, 28 May.
The Rector’s election is being organised by Election Board, composed of KTU Council members. The procedure is regulated by the science and study legislation of Republic of Lithuania, the University Statute and the KTU official guidelines for electing a rector.
“The good practices from business show that it takes 6 to 12 months to find the highest level executive, so I think that our initial plan to give only two months for applying was too optimistic. As we see that there’s a sufficient number of applicants interested in the position, we have decided to extend the deadline to provide a chance to all potential candidates and to choose the best. I have to emphasise, that having in mind the ambitious long-term goals of the University, quality is more important than rushing”, said Kęstutis Šliužas, KTU Council member, Chairman of the Elective Board, General Manager of major telecommunications company Telia Lietuva.
In order to guarantee that the Rector’s election process is smooth and transparent, KTU Council is cooperating with recruitment agency Friisberg & Partners, who specialises in recruiting, retaining and developing talented executives and senior management.
Persons with impeccable reputation, possessing academic degree or official status of a renowned artist can participate in the election. International experience in educational field and management competences are required from the successful candidates. The same person can be elected for the position of the Rector for no more than two 5-year terms.
All the documents needed for applying to the KTU Rector’s position must be submitted by 12 noon on 28 May 2018.
