Magazine Reitingai (eng. Rankings) introduced Lithuanian university rankings by subject 2015 in a range of areas, covering 70 subjects. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) was recognised as the second best both in undergraduate and masters studies.
The rankings, published by Reitingai is an efficient tool to identify best Lithuanian universities for studying certain subjects on different level. The schools of higher education were ranked by 70 professional bachelors’ study subjects, 70 bachelors’ subjects and 70 masters’ subjects.
Best by 14 Undergraduate Study Subjects
KTU was recognised as the best by 14 undergraduate subjects out of 35. This is the second best result in Lithuania.
The organisers of the rankings stressed the importance of employers’ opinion in this year’s rankings – the alumni of every subject were evaluated by the professionals working in the field. Their opinion comprised 40% of the rankings’ final result.
The other criteria, which influenced a university’s rank were: the average entry score (20%), the number of first year students entering the university with the highest school-leaving exam marks (20%), the lowest accepted entry score for a certain subject (20%).
KTU was recognised as the best in public administration, human resources management, heritage studies, food technologies, material technologies, engineering, informatics engineering, production engineering, mechanical engineering, land transport engineering, marketing and accountancy.
Best by 12 Masters Study Subjects
The master subjects’ rank was comprised of employers’ evaluation combined with scientific criteria such as the number of Web of Science research publications in a certain subject published by a university’s scientists and their impact factor, and the state funded PhD study places.
KTU was recognised as the best in 12 masters subjects out of 36, and it is the second best result among Lithuanian universities.
KTU was ranked as the best by the following masters study subjects: electronics and electrical engineering, energy engineering, materials technology, informatics, informatics engineering, program systems, biotechnologies, chemistry and process engineering, public administration, human resources management, management, food technologies.
