10–16 November all over Europe ESNers and international students were organising and participating in voluntary social events, seeking enrichment of society through international students and marking SocialErasmus Week. ESN KTU was no exception.
Reach higher! Go further! Go social! It is a motto of SocialErasmus and it had a special importance the previous week.
SocialErasmus Week at our university started in the early morning on Monday when a group of ESNers and international students went to visit a school in Žiežmariai as part of Erasmus in Schools project. Same day in the afternoon, ESNers and students who didn’t go to Žiežmariai, were giving out sweets with even sweeter notes to people in Kaunas Old Town and Laisvės avenue (photos here).
The next day, ESNers and international students met again for another social event, ‘Save a Life’. They were giving out reflectors for people in KTU campus and so as walking in the dark was safer.
On Wednesday, SocialErasmus Week continued with ‘Free Hugs’. ESNers, some wearing very cool costumes (you can find the photos here), and international students were hugging people in Laisvės avenue and in Old Town, brightening everyone’s day.
SocialErasmus Week was closed on Thursday with White T-shirt Party where all students were making memories that will last forever (those who have notes and drawings on their t-shirts will definitely remember this week for a long time).
SocialErasmus Week of this semester is over now but let’s keep encouraging mobility, sharing smiles and hugs, saving lives, and partying with ESN KTU from time to time.
