Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for transport is visiting Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) this week. On Friday, 16 October at 3pm academic community from all Kaunas universities are invited to a meeting with the Commissioner. This is her first visit to Lithuania.
Bulc is a Slovenian entrepreneur and politician who has served as European Commissioner for Transport since 1 November 2014. She is responsible for the development of transport infrastructure in the European Union such as road and rail networks but also navigation systems such as the Galileo positioning system.
Bulc will introduce current issues in EU’s transport sector and the planned and performed initiatives in this field. The Commissioner will introduce her opinion on trans-European transport networks and cross-border transport connections as well as the Single European Sky policy.
European Commissioner Bulc is also responsible for basing new policies increasingly on the “user pays” principle, while preventing discrimination, and developing common EU standards for transport safety and security to improve the international environment for transport.
This is an exceptional chance to discuss important issues with an European Officer of such a high rank. Although Bulc is responsible for transport, she is open to other topics, including sport (the politician is a keen basketballer herself).
The moderator of the event is Jonas Urbanavičius, Head of European Institute at KTU’s Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.
The discussion will be held in English.
