Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) researchers discussed their experiences on scientific research, low carbon content technologies economics, environment and resource efficiency with their Thai colleagues.
In the beginning of September, a meeting of healthcare sector researchers and students, teachers from University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), Thailand took place. KTU Professor Renaldas Raišutis, working in INTERREG EUROPE project ELISE (European Life Science Ecosystems) attended the event.
“The global importance of developing of interdisciplinary research and healthcare technologies cannot be limited by distance or state borders. The main priority remains human healthcare and wellbeing sustaining devices and technologies, and our research at KTU is very much connected to these topics”, says Professor Raišutis.
The purpose of the event was Europe and Thailand healthcare sector cluster networking event. It was organised by European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) and Thailand National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). ELISE project aims to improve politics sector and regional development projects realization. The priorities of the project are scientific research, engineering development and innovation, competitiveness of small and medium companies, low carbon content technologies economics, environment and resource efficiency.
The meeting was also attended by Lithuanian ambassador Ina Marčiulionytė and Thailand business and industry associates. During the meeting Thailand’s and Europe’s healthcare sector clusters were introduced, open discussions were held on the topic of medical and healthcare industry’s perspectives and cooperation between Thailand and the EU. After the discussion networking meetings took place.
During the event participants visited Chula University Hospital, Biomedical Engineering Labs and Thai Red Cross. They introduced their practice in participating in clusters and healthcare sector, activities and principles. The participants could also get acquainted with the wellness centre in Bangkok, which focuses on medical tourism. The results of the visits were summarized in a debriefing session by the European and Thailand organisation delegates. The last day of the event the participants visited Medical Fair of Thailand.
Kaunas University of Technology hopes to further develop the cooperation of continents by gaining and sharing experience.
