We know that the beginning of summer you are likely to spend here in Kaunas because of the exam session (sorry!). We also know that relaxing between exams is good for your mental and physical health. That’s why we are sharing this Kaunastic list of tips of what to do in Kaunas in June.
First things first – this Saturday, June 1 Kaunas will host a traditional Song and Dance Festival, in which thousands of Lithuanian choir singers and folk dancers participate. The Festival will take place at Song Valley, in Ąžuolynas. Come for a moment or for the whole day. You will enjoy.
Remember, every Thursday (unless it’s raining) Open Kitchen with its wide and luxurious selection of street food is waiting next to Žalgiris Arena. This means plenty of space for the food trucks to park, enough green fields for foodies to chill, also space for sports activities and running around with your pets. Also, it’s a great spot to meet up with your friends during lunch hours or in the evenings.
If you are more into theatre and performance art, the selection is particularly wide. From contemporary circus festival Cirkuliacija, located not far from KTU dorms, to AURA dance performances at Kaunas National Drama Theatre and Theatre Festival House X – the events will please all the tastes. Just choose the date.
If you are more into sports, do not miss the Kaunas Marathon taking place next weekend, June 7.
And, of course, there are events, which continue throughout the summer. Classical music lovers will enjoy one of the most famous in Lithuania, Pažaislis Music Festival. The lovers of visual arts will appreciate Kaunas Biennial.
All in all, spending the first month of summer in Kaunas means attending dozens of concerts, exhibitions, theatre and contemporary circus performances, traditional events, tasting the food, jumping through bonfires and watching speedboats competing in the Kaunas Reservoir.
