Explore opportunities: KTU WANTed Career Days 2024 this Wednesday at Kaunas Žalgiris Arena

Important | 2024-10-22

This Wednesday, October 23 the largest career planning event in the Baltic States – KTU WANTed Career Days 2024 – will take place at Kaunas Žalgiris Arena. The focus of the 20th Career Days is growing diversity in today’s workplace, and among the speakers is Lithuanian Eurovision finalist Silvester Belt. More than 10 thousand participants are expected. The event will be broadcast live.

“Diversity is not only a value that we uphold at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), but it is also a very important element of the academic community that encourages critical thinking, creativity and empathy in all fields. Both today and in historical retrospect, the University is the place where initiatives promoting justice and inclusion are born, so that people feel seen, heard and valued, regardless of their race, gender, socio-economic status or cultural background,” says KTU Rector Prof. Eugenijus Valatka.

The theme of this year’s KTU WANTed Career Days was born out of a desire to reflect the cultural and social changes brought about by globalisation and the rapid transformations that occur in technology, the job market and economics. Diversity can sometimes be intimidating as it encompasses many areas – a mix of general and technical skills, different tools to achieve a goal or cultural differences within a team.

More than 120 potential employers will be welcoming high school and university students at the event. Representatives of companies will invite them to participate in job search screenings, exchange contacts and win prizes.

During Career Days, several different activities and events are taking place. The WANTed Talks conference is among the most popular of those. This year the participants will be treated to a special presentation by Silvester Belt, who will share his unique success story, and will talk about the importance of accepting yourself as you are. The conference will be moderated and hosted by Indrė Kavaliauskaitė, a TV presenter and web content creator.

Conference on corporate experiences in creating diversity

KTU WANTed Career Days 2024 will offer a wide range of activities: participants will be able to get to know the companies, take an official photo and prepare an attractive CV, as well as explore the spaces dedicated to interactive activities and innovations, to discussions, and organisational innovations.

“The WANTed Talks conference will explore the main theme of this year’s KTU WANTed Career Days 2024 – Growing Diversity. Speakers, company representatives and guests will invite you to discuss the benefits of diversity in today’s context, how not to get lost in the abundance of skills and what to look for when creating an attractive environment for employees.

The conference will also feature a presentation on diversity by Dr Evelina Meilienė, Vice-Rector for Community Affairs at KTU, one of the largest employers in Kaunas.

As every year, the WANTed meets WANTed area will invite participants to get up close and personal with companies, to get to know their profiles and career opportunities and to share their contacts.

The participants will have the opportunity to talk with experts from Accenture Baltics, Centric IT Solutions, Continental Lietuva, Festo Lietuva, FORVIA HELLA, Hollister Lietuva, Ignitis grupė, LTG grupė, MARS LIETUVA, Litgrid, Rocket Software, Teltonika, Vinted and many others.

In the Make Your CV WANTed area, the participants will be able to get career advice and create their CVs. There will also be an introduction to study exchange programmes, ECIU University and KTU Startup Space activities.

The Career Days will close with the Corporate Awards ceremony, which was a success last year, where the winners in three different categories will be chosen by the visitors themselves – high school and university students. Companies will compete for three nominations – The Most WANTed Look, The Most WANTed Friend and The Most WANTed.
