25–26 November in Tallin, Estonia annual robotics competition Robotex 2017 took place. Pupils from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Panevėžys Faculty of Technologies and Business Technology Learning Centre (TMC) showed great results and were among the best in Europe.
The pupils brought 8 robots to the competition and participated in the robot Folkrace, Mini Sumo, iRobot Sumo and City Passing matches. In total, 150 young robotists from all Europe participated in the competition.
This year’s competition was extremely successful for the team: experienced robotist Kornelis Petronis has won the third place in iRobot Sumo and the fifth place in the Folkrace, Povilas Petronis was the fourth.
“We are extremely proud that competing with the best robot enthusiasts in Europe, we are among the top 5. Especially, when having in mind that we do not have much experience”, says Rugilė Draugelytė – Riaubienė, Director of TMC.
Robotex 2017 was the second competition of this kind for KTU Panevėžys Faculty TMC robotists. Last year, KTU Masters’ student Giedrius Liaučys in the 3 kg Sumo match has won the 3rd place and a trip to the competition in Japan.
