“Imagine a dynamic map, which shows you people flock into the places of interest, a city, where the passers-by get exceptional offers at restaurants and shops to their phones, where infrastructure is so perfect that traffic jams become almost impossible”, Giedrius Sirevičius co-founder of a start-up Icybit shares his vision of a smart city. Icybit is one of nearly 50 companies founded at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Startup Space community.
Sirevičius with a team is creating a smart system Wisebud, which will allow its users to see the mass gatherings in the cities and to find out their reasons.
“This system can process big data coming from various sources, such as mobile networks, Internet of Things devices or mobile applications providers and identify the crowds”, explains Sirevičius.
According to its creators, the project is firstly aimed at various businesses willing to find out what is happening in certain parts of the city and to react to those events automatically. For example, a restaurant in a city centre after finding out that the crowd passing by is growing, can try to attract them by issuing special offers.
By the way, the Wisebud team wants to assure those concerned about privacy – the data is anonymous before entering the system: “We are working with crowds, not individuals and it is impossible to track down an individual person”.
Icybit’s inspiration is the vision of a smart city which adapts to the needs of its community.
“We can easily imagine that in such a city traffic lights reacting to the intensity of traffic allow to avoid congestions, while shopping we are receiving personal offers tailored to our needs, hobbies and age from the nearby stores, and the infrastructure of the city changes, depending on the crowd travelling through its streets”, says Sirevičius, the co-founder of a start-up Icybit, which technology Wisebud will hit the market shortly.
