“Swedish Light in December” is an annual festival, which started with the celebration of Lucia’s Day in 2008 and has already become a tradition. It has gradually spread around Lithuania and is currently the most famous Swedish event.
Lucia’s Day is the celebration of light (name Lucia means “light”) as well as commemoration, appreciation and popularization of Swedish culture. Therefore, different films are shown, various exhibitions, conferences and discussions are held on the occasion. All the events are organized by the Embassy of Sweden in Lithuania with the help of the Swedish Institute and partners of the Embassy, whose contribution is highly appreciated.
The festival “Swedish Light in December” is held in major cities of Lithuania at the beginning of December. One of the events will take place in Kaunas. H. E. Ambassador of Sweden, Cecilia Ruthström-Ruin, is going to pay a visit to the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities in KTU Great Hall on the 8th of December.
