Important | 2017-12-01

At 6pm on Saturday, 2 December the festivities of lighting the main Christmas Tree of the city will take place. Kaunas Town Hall Square will officially become the centre of the Lithuanian Christmas Capital. Kaunas city is promising that the festive mood will match that of Hollywood films.

Traditionally, the 12-meter-high Christmas Tree is already placed in the middle of the Town Hall Square. Original and natural, this year it will be lit using environmentally friendly energy resources, made from coffee grounds collected from Kaunas companies and organisations.

For the decoration of the main city’s Christmas Tree natural materials were combined with technological solutions: decorated with long meters of jute and uncountable natural pine cones the tree will look modest during the day, and the programmable bubbles and impressive 1,000 square meters’ glass installations will turn it into technology miracle during the night.

The traditional Christmas Fair in the Town Hall Square and Santaka Park decorated with 95 birds, deer glowing between the trees, icicles and stars glittering in the branches, and decorated benches will transform Kaunas old town into a fairy-tale.

Numerous bridges, streets, fountains and squares have already been decorated for the most beautiful winter holidays. Kaunas has invested 460 thousand euros into Christmas this year. Holiday season is going to be unforgettable!
