KTU Will Partner Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) will soon sign agreement for cooperation and academic exchange with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD). According to QS World University rankings, the Institute is the best in India and is ranked 222 among world institutions of higher education.

Early this month during the education fair in India New Delhi KTU representatives promoted the University in the joint Study in Lithuania stand which was funded by Education Exchanges Support Foundation and co-funded by EU project ‘Expansion of internationality in higher education’.

According to Neringa Narbutienė, Head of KTU International Studies Office who was representing KTU in India, the participation in the fair was very useful for the University.

‘Both university and high school students showed high interest in studies at KTU, especially in masters and PhD programmes in technology field’, said Narbutienė.

At the same time in Delhi the seminar initiated by the three Baltic countries ‘Study in Baltics’ took place. The seminar focused on introducing possibilities and advantages of studying in Baltic countries.

‘During our visit in India we had extensive discussions with officers of Lithuanian Embassy in India J. E. Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, Rinaldas Kėdikas and the consul Kristina Kederytė-Sabharval. Many of our degree students coming to study at KTU from this region if India apply for visa in the Lithuanian Embassy’, said Narbutienė.

KTU representatives met IITD managing director prof. Sidh Nath Singh, strategy and planning director prof. Shiban Kishen Koul and the dean of alumni and international programmes prof. Mukesh Khare. During the meeting Lithuanian trends of higher education were introduced and possible forms and fields of collaboration between ITU and IITD discussed: students’ and teachers’ exchange, joint projects and research in materials science, IT, biotechnology and other fields.

The terms discussed in the meeting will be formalised by signing cooperation and academic exchange agreement later this month.

The KTU meeting with the IITD management was organised by Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Education and Science Rimantas Vaitkus, with the help of the Ambassador and the Counsellor of the Embassy. According to QS World University Rankings 2014 IITD is ranked 222 in the world.
