“Congratulations, this is your own independent flight into the professional future. It’s up to you where you will fly, it’s up to you how you will fly, and what you will achieve”, said Sir Richard Branson, Sir Richard Branson, Honorary Doctor of KTU, founder of Virgin, one of the most famous entrepreneurs of all times in his congratulatory speech for all Kaunas University of Technology freshers.

On Friday 1 September 2pm at Žalgiris Arena Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students and all the community opened the New Academic Year. The programme of the event was packed with entertaining shows: performances, dances, concerts delivered by the University art societies and renowned Lithuanian groups and actors.

The students, academic community and guests were also greeted by KTU Rector Petras Baršauskas, the President of KTU Student Union Lukas Kijauskas.

The celebratory opening of the new academic year at KTU The Take Off introduced a great performance show, where every audience member was an important part of the event.

This year KTU is welcoming more than 2.200 new students, among them – almost 300 international students. The University remains the second most popular study choice in Lithuania.

Warm welcome to all the new members of our community. We wish you exciting and unforgettable experiences during your journey through the University. “Have a blast!” as would Sir Richard Branson say, and do not forget to use all the opportunities provided by the university.
