KTU WANTed Career Days 2025 – focus on building resilience in the face of uncertainty

Important | 2025-09-08

In a constantly changing job market, resilience is becoming one of the most important skills for achieving career goals. This year, the largest career planning event in the Baltic States, KTU WANTed Career Days, will take place on October 2 at the Žalgiris Arena in Kaunas. During the event, professionals from more than 120 companies in Lithuania and abroad will share their insights on resilience in the face of uncertainty.

Every year, KTU’s WANT Career Days bring together more than 10,000 participants interested in everything career-related. Here, they can speak with more than a thousand representatives of different companies, exchange contact information with them, and find a job or internship.

Career Days is not only a career contact exchange platform, but also an inspiring space and an encouraging environment. This year, the guest speaker of the event is Benas Aleksandravičius, the leader of the alternative rock band ba. He will share a unique personal story that aims to inspire young people to find strength even in the most difficult situations.

This year, the main partners of the event are Aardvark, Ignitis Group, LTG Group, and Mars Lietuva. EPSO-G, FORVIA HELLA, Hollister Lietuva, Gijos, MT Group, Senukai, Vinted, and VMG Group also support the event.

Uncertainty as an opportunity

The main theme of this year’s KTU WANTed Career Days 2025 is resilience in the face of uncertainty. This refers to the ability to adapt, act in the face of threats, resist propaganda and misinformation, manage anxiety, and maintain positive thinking. According to Kristina Skučienė, Director of the Student Affairs Department at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), uncertainty manifests itself in various spheres today.

“For young people, uncertainty is connected to a feeling of not being sure what to expect. For employers, uncertainty can cause anxiety due to constantly changing skill requirements or frequent employee turnover. Therefore, developing resilience in the face of uncertainty is a key skill for becoming competitive in the job market and a successful individual,” says Skučienė.

In this context, the partnership between KTU and businesses is significant – the university, together with business representatives, not only provides students with the opportunity to meet potential employers but also develops joint initiatives that help to develop the ability to operate in a constantly changing environment.

According to Dr Rimantė Sedziniauskienė, Head of the Partnership Development Department at KTU National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, the Career Days organised by the university is a perfect platform for establishing long-term cooperation relationships, generating ideas and initiating new projects.

“Such partnerships strengthen the preparedness of young professionals for the global job market and become the basis for the resilience of both students and companies, because only by working together we can find sustainable solutions to uncertain future situations,” says Dr Sedziniauskienė.

Opportunities for young talent

The largest career planning event in the Baltic States attracts over 10,000 students, university graduates and high school students every year. These three different audiences come to the event for different reasons: high school students and younger university students want to familiarise themselves with the current job market and get direction for their studies or future careers, while final-year students come here to choose internships or jobs.

“Considering the different needs of the audience, there are several areas at the career days. The WANTed meets WANTed contact zone allows students to get to know companies and exchange contacts, the Make Your CV WANTed zone provides an opportunity to create a CV and LinkedIn profile, take a professional photo and receive advice on how to strengthen the skills needed in the job market, while in the Inspiration Space, companies introduce innovations and interactive activities created for the event,” says Skučienė.

During KTU WANTed Career Days 2025, KTU will also invite visitors to get to know Kaunas University of Technology from a different perspective. KTU is one of the largest employers in the region; it is a place where one can find their first job, continue their professional career and contribute to significant changes at the national and international level. Visitors will be able to find out more about internships and jobs at KTU.

“The event would not be possible without a group of volunteers who contribute to its smooth running by communicating with company representatives. More students are choosing to combine study and work, not only for economic reasons, but also for the opportunity to acquire new skills or strengthen personal qualities. Volunteering is one way to gain experience needed after graduation, so KTU students are invited to register and become an invaluable part of this event,” adds Skučienė.

Traditional awards ceremony

Another highlight of the event is the WANTed Talks conference, where the main partners of the event – five companies – will share their stories on the topic of resilience in the face of uncertainty, while the KTU representative, Head of the Lifelong Learning Centre, Dr Jurgita Stravinskienė, will talk about how resilience can be considered a currency.

Every year, at the KTU WANTed Career Days participating companies are awarded based on their performance

According to Dr Sedziniauskienė, uncertainty in the business world manifests itself in fluctuating raw material and energy prices, changing consumer behaviour, technological leaps and geopolitical crises.

“There is no single correct answer in crises, so it is important to make decisions and grow even with limited information. Representatives of participating companies will share their experiences on the ability of managers to remain steadfast under pressure, the role of energy security and innovation in times of crisis, and different approaches to work,” says Dr Sedziniauskienė.

This year’s event will continue the tradition of awarding the participating companies. The visitors and a panel of experts will select from the participants the most popular company (The Most WANTed), the most interesting one (The Most WANTed Look) and the one which is the most effective communicator (The Most WANTed Friend). The winning companies will be awarded at the closing ceremony.
