KTU School of Economics and Business – Among the Top 6% Worldwide

2026-03-05

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) has obtained the prestigious international AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation, which is awarded to study programmes in business, management and economics. Less than 6% of the world’s best business schools have this accreditation.

The KTU School of Economics and Business became a member of AACSB in 2015, which marked the beginning of a focused journey towards becoming an internationally recognised centre of excellence in economics, business and management with a high reputation.

Over the course of seven years, all stages of the evaluation process were completed, each focused on achieving the highest standards of learning quality in line with AACSB requirements. The application of these standards ensures internationally recognised quality of studies and creates conditions for preparing highly qualified, competitive business, management and economics specialists for the job market.

“KTU’s commitment to pursuing this accreditation perfectly reflects the institution’s dedication not only to its students, alumni network and the wider business community, but also to the entire higher education sector,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, AACSB Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer.

According to her, today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, so KTU’s joining the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a long-term positive impact on the university.

In Line with KTU’s Strategic Priorities

“This accreditation is much more than a mark of quality or international recognition. It is proof that KTU consistently strives for the highest quality standards and boldly enters the global academic arena as an equal partner. Being among the top 6 per cent of business and economics schools in the world proves that our students study in an environment based on the principles of global leadership, responsibility and innovation,” says KTU Rector Prof. Dr Eugenijus Valatka.

“This is an investment in the future and competencies of our students: in their ability to create value, make sound decisions and contribute to the progress of the country. At the same time, it is an achievement for the entire university community, confirming that focused work, ambitious goals and belief in our own strengths pave the way for international recognition,” he adds.

The positive effects of AACSB accreditation are directly in line with one of KTU’s strategic goals – to ensure inclusive, transformative and empowering learning for the future. Study content based on future competencies, innovative teaching methods, meaningful student experiences and flexible forms of lifelong learning will create a dynamic, research-based and future-oriented learning ecosystem that responds to the changing needs of the job market and the expectations of learners.

“I remember very well how, a decade ago, the initiative seemed like nothing more than an ambitious dream to many, but the focused work of the community and the support of the university’s leadership made it a reality,” recalls Prof. Dr Edita Gimžauskienė, Vice-Rector for Strategic Business Partnerships at KTU,  “AACSB accreditation not only marks the maturity of the faculty but also strengthens the university’s role as a catalyst for innovation, proving that business studies at a technology-oriented university can create global value.”

According to her, this achievement sets the country apart in the entire Baltic region – Lithuania is becoming the only country with business schools accredited by the international AACSB standard.

Strong Education Tradition at the Intersection of Technology and Business

The AACSB board of experts highlighted KTU’s ability to maintain a strong tradition of interdisciplinary, research-oriented studies at the intersection of technology and business as one of its main strengths. KTU is one of the leading institutions of higher education and applied sciences, occupying a leading position in the region in successfully integrating business and technology studies.

“This is the result of vision and purposeful actions focused on internationalisation and quality in management, research and studies. Joining this community of accredited schools is not only a significant achievement, but also an inspiration to continue consistently pursuing the highest international quality standards and contributing to the development of the global academic community and the region,” says Dr Kęstutis Duoba, the Dean of KTU’s School of Economics and Business.
