On April 24-28, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) will host the fourth international teaching week Global Faculty Week 2023, which aims to enrich the content of study programs and strengthen cooperation with partners from all around the world. This year, a particularly large number of applications has been received – more than 100 guest lecturers from 32 countries will deliver lectures, share knowledge and expertise with the University students from all the faculties.

The largest number of participants will come to the School of Economics and Business, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Design and Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.

According to Virginija Savalenkovienė, Staff mobility manager at the International Relations Department, this year, lecturers from almost 80 partner universities located in four continents – Africa, America, Asia, and Europe – will come to the event. Over 90 lecturers will teach in person and the remaining part will deliver the classes online. For the first time in the history of the international teaching week, the universities from Tanzania, South Africa, India, Japan, USA, Switzerland, Cyprus, Romania, Norway and Finland will be represented. Since all lectures of KTU international teaching week are integrated into the study modules, students will have no need to register for these lectures separately.

“For most of the participants, this will be their first visit, but we are extremely happy to welcome participants who are coming to teach our university students again.

As every year, in addition to teaching, we will provide the teachers with rich cultural program for them to learn more about KTU, Kaunas, M. K. Čiurlionis and the heritage of Lithuania,” says Virginija Savalenkovienė.

“It goes without saying that this event also aims to promote the name of KTU and Lithuania in the world. Once the “Global Faculty Week 2023” organised by KTU is over, the participants share their experience and best practices with their university communities and this provides feedback to KTU in the most diverse ways: new partnerships, increasing number of visiting students and lecturers, and invitations to various joint activities,” says Virginija Savalenkovienė, emphasising that internationalisation at home is a permanent processaimed at a long-term perspective.

Traditionally, members of the KTU community are invited to participate in 2 events of the Global Faculty Week 2023: open lecture “Serious Humor in Higher Education” and the networking event Networking Cafe.
