Welcome to KTU: discover, connect and leap into your future

Important | 2025-08-22

The new academic year at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) starts with an energy boost – the traditional Welcome Week, taking place on 25–29 August. For five days, the KTU Student Campus will be buzzing with activities designed to help first-year students settle in, connect with peers, and discover everything that university life has to offer.

From picnics and open-air movie nights to inspiring talks, creative workshops, sports challenges, and live music, Welcome Week is more than just an introduction – it is beginning of an exciting new chapter, where students can build friendships, explore opportunities, and get to know the KTU community.

International students have a full programme designed to make their first days at KTU smooth and enjoyable. The activities begin on 26 August with board games organised by ESN KTU (Erasmus Student Network), providing a relaxed and playful environment for meeting new friends. On 27 August, registration at the Santaka Valley is accompanied by a food truck and a KTU photo booth, where students can grab a snack, take fun photographs, and create memories from their first day.

The welcome programme continues on 28 August, with registration open again. During this time, students can take part in Speak Lithuania activities, including Quiz with Narmin designed to introduce local culture and language in an engaging way. An evening picnic with ESN KTU provides a chance for everyone to relax and socialise in a friendly atmosphere.

On both days, international students can attend introductory lectures from 15:00 to 17:00, offering guidance and insights into life at KTU. Additionally, Study@KTU ambassadors will host interactive activities such as bingo and “Present Your Country”, helping students feel more connected to the KTU community.

And, of course, the week would not be complete without KTU’s traditional “From Zero to Hero” Fresher’s Christening on 29 August – a playful test of endurance and creativity that has become a favourite among new students.

This year, KTU continues to grow its diverse international community. Students from more than 50 countries are joining the university – from India, Morocco, and Turkey to Greece, Spain, and the United States.

New groups are arriving from Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia, as well as from exotic destinations such as New Zealand, Jamaica, and the Maldives. Over 150 Erasmus exchange students will also be studying at KTU this semester.

“We are welcoming a diverse generation of students from all over the world, and we are truly happy to see growing interest from regions like Southeast Asia and Europe. Our recruitment focus in these areas has proven successful, bringing even more colour and energy to the KTU community,” says Audronė Račkauskienė, Head of the International Studies Office.

Wherever you come from, whether it’s India, the Philippines, New Zealand, or anywhere else, Welcome Week is your chance to step confidently into the KTU community. Take this leap into your future, meet fellow students from around the world, embrace new experiences, and start creating your own story at KTU – because this is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey.
