Important | 2018-06-06

According to the U-Multirank 2018 Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) has improved its positions in 15 out of 33 criteria. The biggest growth is observed in Regional Engagement, in Research and in Technology Transfer dimensions.

“The aim of U-Multirank is not to get into the list of ranked universities. Instead, the organisers of U-Multirank are providing an exhaustive evaluation of every institution according to 5 dimensions. We are happy to see that KTU has improved its score in most of them: among other achievements it’s worth to mention that the percentage of masters’ graduates has risen, the citation rate has grown, and the number of strategic research partners has increased”, says Lolita Jurkšienė, Head of Department for Strategy Monitoring and Processes at KTU.

The U-Multirank web tool enables comparisons at the level of the university as a whole and at the level of specific study programmes. Based on empirical data, U-Multirank compares institutions with similar institutional profiles (‘like-with-like’) and allows users to develop their own personalised rankings by selecting indicators in terms of their own preferences.

U-Multirank compares the performances of universities in the five dimensions of university activity: (1) teaching and learning, (2) research, (3) knowledge transfer, (4) international orientation and (5) regional engagement. Every one of these dimensions has several criteria, and each of them is assessed on a five-band scale: from A (excellent) to E (weak).

KTU has was ranked as excellent for interdisciplinary publications and art related output (Research), for spin-offs (Technology Transfer), for graduates working in the region and income from regional sources (Regional Engagement).

Among others, KTU has also improved its rank in International Orientation dimension by attracting more international academic staff and by increasing the number of joint publications with partners from overseas universities.
