Turkish Economics Journalists Interested in Innovations Developed at KTU

Economics journalists from Bursa (Turkey) region representing AS TV, Olay Media Group and Yeni Donem newspaper were visiting Kaunas Science and Technology Park (MTP) and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Santaka Valley earlier this week. They were introduced to Kaunas MTP enterprises, joint business and research projects and entrepreneurship studies at KTU.

The guests were especially interested in the possibility of business’ (Kaunas MTP accommodates more than 90 innovation-thirsty enterprises) collaboration with science by using KTU Santaka Valley laboratories for their research and development practices.

KTU’s National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre introduced their one-stop-shop system, which facilitates the communication between innovation-thirsty business and research groups.

The journalists were introduced to innovative products, created by the young companies of Kaunas MTP, such as engineering software developers Energy Advice, who are currently looking for growth possibilities in Turkish market, and Softneta, which is developing innovative products for healthcare, allowing to diagnose diabetes from the examination of a patient’s eye. Softneta is currently keeping contacts with several hospitals in Turkey.

Turkish media representatives were particularly interested in KTU study programmes in technology field, which are among the best in Lithuania. KTU already collaborates with 31 Turkish university and sees a lot of possibilities to share good practices and carry out joint research projects.

“There is great interest in our studies from Turkish market – we always have exchange students from partner universities. Potential students are interested both in technological and social sciences, and in architecture. Also, many are willing to come for a semester or two to study English or have preparatory courses in architecture, and only then to start studying”, says Audronė Račkauskienė, Head of International Studies Office at KTU.

There are 68 students from Turkey studying at KTU.
