In the end of May, Spanish was spoken loudly and proudly in the corridors of KTU Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. The students and staff were invited to enjoy Spanish culture and traditions, to enjoy the sounds of Spanish language and music.
During the event the audience were invited to immerse into the warm atmosphere of Spain by watching the film Maktub by director Paco Arango and documentaries about the most spectacular places of the country, such as Barcelona, Granada, Pamplona and others.
Faculty students, staff and guests were invited to meet not only lectures from Spain teaching at KTU, but also State officials.
“Languages open doors to the world. Spanish language belongs to Indo-European language family and is being spoken not only by citizens of Spain, but also by people living in Latin America. There are more than 472 million people whose native language is Spanish, therefore it is as important for business as English, French or German”, said Bernardo Lopez, Vice-Ambassador of Spain in Lithuania, opening the discussion on the topic “Why study Spanish?”
The discussion was continued by the lecture of teacher and poet Joaquin Carmona about Spanish literature and poetry. He shared his poems, introduced the books, which are already published and future projects.
In the evening the students participated in a quiz on the topic of Spanish language, where students and pupils from different schools were competing solving the tasks on grammar and culture.
