This week the results of 2018 QS World University Rankings have been announced. Kaunas University of Technology has sustained its strong position among 2.7 percent of the worlds’ best universities. KTU is especially valued among employers – at 334 globally, the Employer Reputation indicator is the strongest one for KTU.
In the 4 categories out of 6 KTU has been ranked 401+, and in 2 categories KTU is among the best 400 in the world. The overall rank of the University is 701+.
“We are especially glad to see the increasing results in the field of reputation. Since the last year, we have improved our rank by 25 position the most influential Academic Reputation category, and the Employer Reputation indicator grew by 149 positions. The stable number of students, which is a challenge in today’s demographic situation, is also being reflected in the rankings”, says Lolita Jurksiene, Head of Planning and Analysis Unit at KTU.
According to her, KTU is strengthening its position in the field of engineering and technologies, and is among 500 top universities in this field (rank 451-500).
QS World University Rankings are being ranked according to following criteria: academic reputation (40 percent), employer reputation (10 percent), citations per faculty (20 percent), student to faculty ratio (20 percent), international faculty (5 percent), international students (5 percent).
For the sixth year running, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) leads the way of the ranking of more than 950 of the world’s best universities in the world. In fact, the top four universities are all based in the US.
KTU is the second university in Lithuania by national rankings, carrying out research and studies in four fields of science. KTU is a leader by the scientific qualifications of academic staff, having the highest percentage of teachers possessing PhD of higher academic degree in teaching personnel in Lithuania.
KTU is the only state university in Lithuania, which boasts a growing number of students. It is one of the most popular choices among top school graduates.
According to the data provided by Research and Higher Education Monitoring and Analysis Centre, KTU is the most efficient in using the research potential in attracting international research project funds: having the second largest research potential, KTU is an absolute leader by funding through international research programmes.
