Kaunas Full of Culture Yearbook for Each and Every KTU Fresher

Important | 2018-01-23

300 pages full of culture – Kaunas Full of Culture yearbook is one of the gifts in the Welcome Pack, which you will get upon your matriculation next week. The bookzine includes interviews with the renowned Kaunas artists and culture promoters, articles on Kaunas European Capital of Culture 2022 and Kaunas UNESCO City of Design initiatives, and a calendar of all, yes ALL important events in Kaunas in 2018.

“2018 will be a very important year that will keep all of us engaged. The centennial celebrations of the Restoration of Lithuanian State have already started, and Kaunas, a city that served as the temporary capital will often be at the centre of the events”, promise the editors of Kaunas Full of Culture.

Do you know, why Kaunas modernist structures are the closest to the definition of Lithuanian national architectural style? Or, what caused Kaunas to become a temporary capital of Lithuania and what changes to the city were brought by this? Why dance festivals are the defining feature of Kaunas cultural life, or when the streets of the city fill with jazz?

In the yearbook you will find interviews with Lithuanian Minister of Culture Liana Ruokytė-Jonsson, with Naglis Rytis Baltušnikas, the architect who designed Jurgis Mačiūnas square-joke, with a legendary sculptor Robertas Antinis and a bunch of painters, theatre personalities, and other artists working in such different areas as urban planning, photography, education and game industry.

Believe it or not, the 300 pages of the cultural yearbook cannot cover everything what is happening in Kaunas – follow Kaunas Full of Culture on Facebook.
