When choosing a place to study, students, their parents and the education agents evaluate not only the study quality, but also the city, living conditions and life after graduation. Kaunas and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) are becoming increasingly visible in the global context.
The “KTU Education Agents’ Days ‘26”, which took place on 19–20 February, attracted education experts from Europe, Asia and Africa to Kaunas. The event provided the agents with the opportunity to see the potential of Lithuania as an innovation hub in Northern Europe live.
Kaunas’ image as a student city is growing
Dr Giedrė Šadeikaitė-Gjorsheski, Director of International Relations at KTU, emphasises that such meetings are critically important in strengthening the university’s position on the world map.
Through partnerships with agents, we present the University as a place where high-quality studies, strong links with business and a student-oriented environment create conditions for future leaders to grow,” says Dr Šadeikaitė-Gjorsheski.
Agents note that Kaunas’ image as a student city helps Lithuania stand out successfully among larger but much more expensive European study centres. Audronė Račkauskienė, Head of the International Studies Department, emphasises: “This event is the key to a successful student journey: agents see not only lecture halls, but also the real infrastructure, laboratories and community, which they can then confidently present to candidates.”
Studying in Europe – an investment for the whole family
Insights from education agents reveal that Kaunas is increasingly perceived in the international market as a compact, student-friendly and relatively inexpensive city that offers a safe environment and a high quality of life. These factors are particularly important for students, for whom choosing to study in Europe is often an investment decision for the whole family.
For example, Oluwole Joshua Adesina, a Public Policy and Security master’s student at KTU, emphasises that the university provides more than just academic and professional skills. “The university community and extracurricular activities allow me to develop leadership skills and build confidence in my abilities. I am constantly in a supportive intercultural environment, which is very important for my personal development,” says Adesina, who is also actively involved in the Study@KTU Ambassador Programme.
According to KTU International Relations Department staff, the University’s openness and focus on practical value are particularly important to international partners. “The agents were very enthusiastic about finally meeting in Kaunas in person – they emphasised that such events not only allow them to feel the uniqueness of the University, but also provide them with all the information they need to confidently represent the interests of future students,” said Silvija Petniūnaitė, Senior International Student Admissions Specialist, confirming that the event received excellent feedback and interest.
