From this Thursday, 19 January, the cycle of seminars at DesignLibrary Kaunas starts. Design Thursdays, which will take place at KTU Santaka Valley will cover topics from engineering to user-inspired design, will take audience to a design journey through time.
The Thursday seminar cycle starts tomorrow at 7pm with the lecture from the cycle Journey Through Time “The ’50 – Design of Engineers”.
The period from 1950 to 1959 saw enormous changes in society. In the uneasy peace which followed the second World War II, austerity gradually gave way to affluence and more and more consumer goods became available. Manufacturers were looking to move their manufacturing focus away from military field. A new interest in good design, in engineering and in manufacturing emerged.
The lecture will be delivered by Stefania Silvestri, General Secretary DesignLibrary Milan. It is free for DesignLibrary members.
DesignLibrary Kaunas is mutual project of KTU Design Centre and DesignLibrary Milano.
The aim of the Project is to diffuse&share design culture, raise awareness about design, promote the collaboration between studies, arts/science and business through design. By uniting international and national professionals working in design field the DesignLibrary promotes Lithuanian design culture across other nations.
