Creative Writing Workshop With Novelist George Green

Lancaster University (UK) senior lecturer, novelist Dr George Green will give creative writing workshop series this week. The workshops are aimed at New Media Language students, however everybody interested in creative writing is invited to attend.

“I am very excited about my visit, as I am writing a novel set partly in the Baltic states. I am looking forward to seeing the sights and meeting Lithuanian writers”, said Green.

Green has been studying and teaching creative writing for more than twenty years. Although he used to write a lot of short stories he is now moving towards longer fiction. His recent novel, Hound published by Transworld in August 2003, is a take on The Tain, the Irish myth cycle. The follow-up, Hawk, has just been published. He is also the author of Writing a Novel and Getting Published for Dummies. Green’s research areas are Irish fiction, the Western and the nature of Biography.

During the workshop series the topics of designing the plot, editing writing, essay writing and avoiding most common mistakes that the beginning writers make, will be discussed.

Thursday, 15 October 10.30am–2.30pm
