On June 21, the 93rd graduation ceremony of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) took place at Kaunas “Žalgiris” arena, where almost 2 300 thousand graduates, including 69 international students, received their diplomas.
Event started with the audience together with KTU folk art ensemble “Nemunas” and wind-instrument orchestra singing students’ anthem “Gaudeamus Igitur”.
The first to congratulate KTU graduates was Rector Petras Baršauskas. According to him, the most important thing is not to be afraid to take risks in life, move on with the chosen path, rely on you existing strengths and always stay optimistic.
“I am very happy and proud of you all, after finishing one of the most beautiful and important stages in your lives. Today opens new opportunities, broad career prospects to become future winners, inventors, inspirers and leaders. I have no doubt that knowledge, expertise, creativity, ambition and youthful drive will help you overcome upcoming challenges easily. Thank you for choosing KTU, thank you for being together”, said Rector.
KTU graduates were also congratulated by Kaunas Deputy Mayor Simonas Kairys, Kaunas Auxiliary Bishop Kęstutis Kėvalas, president of KTU Students Association Tautvydas Šimanauskas, CEO of leading Lithuanian energy company “Lietuvos Energija” and President of KTU’s Alumni Association, as well as journalist, writer and social activist Andrius Tapinas, who addressed KTU graduates from India in their national Hindi language.
Before awarding thousands of undergraduates and masters with their diplomas, unforgettable performances by cellist Justinas Kulikauskas together with the string quartet and urban dance group “Low Air”, were presented to the audience.
Later on, one of the most famous graduates of KTU – electronic music artist Giedrius Širka, better known by his stage pseudonym “Golden Parazyth” – joined the dancers on stage. Together with “Low Air'” they surprised everyone with a special music and dance project.
KTU graduation ceremony, hosted by TV presenter and actor Vytautas Rumšas together with LRT channel “Kultūra” star Gerūta Griniūtė, was broadcasted live via Lithuanian news portal DELFI.
