Sonja Strydom is a scholar in the field of higher education studies and digital technology. As the Deputy Director at the Centre for Learning Technologies and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Higher and Adult Education at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, she has established herself in the interrelated fields of academic development, curriculum renewal and digital technology. She holds a PhD in Higher Education Studies and a DLitt et Phil in Psychology. Sonja’s current scholarly interests include the connection between social justice pedagogies and GenAI in higher education; the impact of the post-digital educational landscape on teaching learning and assessment; the role of student voice in digital innovative practices; and epistemological literacies in GenAI engagement.

Magriet de Villiers serves as the Learning Technologies Advisor at the Centre for Learning Technologies (CLT) at Stellenbosch University, focusing on digital pedagogies and the responsible integration of technology in teaching, learning, and assessment. With a background in Christian Theology – in which she both studied and lectured at Stellenbosch University – she previously served as Blended Learning Coordinator and Academic Development Coordinator within the Faculty of Theology. Magriet’s scholarly interests include Hannah Arendt’s work on critical thinking and judgement; academic integrity and good scholarly practice; ethical considerations of GenAI use in higher education; and learning analytics for curricular and pedagogic change. She aims to start her doctoral research in 2026, focusing on how emerging technologies are reshaping our understanding and practice of academic integrity in higher education.
