Project no.: 01.1.1-CPVA-V-701-13-0002

Project description:

The objective of the project “M-Lab Centre of Experimental and Prototyping Laboratories of Physical and Technological Sciences” is the efficient use of the updated research, experimental development and innovation infrastructure (hereinafter – R&D&I) to ensure the development of technological-experimental and innovation activities in the fields of smart specialisation. The main result of the project is the reconstruction of the building located at the address Studentų St. 63A, Kaunas, held in trust by Kaunas University of Technology (hereinafter – University), the adaptation of the building for R&D&I activities and the establishment of the M-Lab Centre of Experimental and Prototyping Laboratories of Physical and Technological Sciences in this building. 9 thematic research groups – experimental laboratories, the creative environment for young researchers Young LAB, the simulation laboratory Smart LAB, the centre of prototyping and testing ProtoLAB will be located and equipped in the centre. Each laboratory will have an individual competence of research, technological and experimental development and innovations (R&D&I) (including informatics engineering, electronics, environmental engineering, biochemistry, biomechanics, innovations and entrepreneurship, industrial design and other science fields); however, they will all have the same focus on solving real challenges for the improvement of the quality of human life.
The objective of all these experimental laboratories and prototyping centre is the continuous cooperation with Lithuanian and foreign businesses, involving them in the development of technologies and prototypes as soon as possible and maximising the reduction of time and distance between an idea and an innovation. The project will also contribute to the preparation of qualified and creative specialists who are needed in business and industry.
