Project description:

Participation in the ECIU consortium allows Kaunas University of Technology to increase international visibility and prestige, as well as to ensure the successful integration of KTU in the European University Networks Initiative. KTU has been working in collaboration with 14 ECIU members to develop ECIU University since 2019.
The joint European University implements a number of innovations including flexible learning pathways, challenge-based learning, and micro-credentials, focusing on high-quality personalized studies, integrating artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and blockchain technologies. Additionally, ECIU University is pioneering a new model for research and innovation, facilitating collaboration among ECIU University scientists and researchers and fostering dialogue across various scientific disciplines, business sectors, and society.
ECIU University associates with 150 faculties, approximately 500 research groups, over 300,000 students, and more than 28,000 academic and 22,000 non-academic staff. The shared infrastructure and strong sense of community within ECIU University offer a unique opportunity for KTU students, faculty, and external partners to collaborate with their European counterparts and contribute to the development of a unified European university.
The activities of the ECIU University are focused on solving the challenges of higher education in Lithuania and Europe, and the implemented actions are in line with the 2021-2025 KTU Strategy, the priorities of the Lithuanian Government Programme and the vision of the future of Lithuania “Lithuania 2050”.

Project results:

Membership in the ECIU consortium provides KTU with a unique opportunity for international cooperation with other innovative and progressive universities from different European countries. It allows students and academics to benefit from the academic resources, experience and knowledge of different countries. International mobility of students and staff between member universities is actively promoted, allowing students and staff to gain international experience, learn from different cultures and strengthen their professional skills and competences. In addition to physical mobility, virtual and mixed mobility opportunities are offered to students and staff. Membership promotes cooperation in research areas, including the development of joint international scientific projects, data exchange, exchange of researchers and other initiatives to strengthen scientific cooperation. Membership of the ECIU provides more flexible access to international funding sources. Membership of the consortium offers unique opportunities to develop joint flexible learning pathways and to diversify the range of learning offer throug challenge-based learning, micro-credentials, joint study programmes and international practices. Alliances enable the university to create diverse and open learning environments, and help improve learning processes by promoting the integration of technology into teaching tools and learning environments. Membership of the ECIU gives the university opportunities to develop international cooperation with business and industry. Special emphasis is also placed on promoting social responsibility, including cooperation with non-governmental organisations, businesses and governments to address important social, economic and environmental challenges. Membership of the Alliance helps KTU to develop its potential and influence in the international arena of science and innovation, in the development of the knowledge economy and in tackling important societal challenges.
