Biorefining of hops (Humulus lupulus L.) into valuable components applying high pressure carbon dioxide extraction

Project no.: 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-10-0150

Project description:

The aim of the project – biorefining of hops (Humulus lupulus L.) into valuable non-polar components applying high pressure carbon dioxide extraction. The activities will include the determination of chemical composition indices for the selected hop varieties, isolation of non-polar (lipophilic) hop constituents using environment-friendly food-grade solvent CO2, determination of optimal extraction process parameters, assessment of CO2 extract phytochemical composition and in vitro antioxidant activity in various model systems. Project results will be summarised in a final report.

Project funding:

Project is funded by EU Structural Funds according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments priority “Development of scientific competence of researchers, other researchers, students through practical scientific activities” under Measure No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712.
