The University Council Has Started the New Rector Election Process

On Thursday, 27 October Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Council has appointed Acting Vice-Rectors for Study and for Research and Innovation. During the meeting, the KTU Council has also started to prepare for the election process of the new Rector.

On the decree on the Acting Rector Jurgita Šiugždinienė, the Council has appointed Kristina Ukvalbergienė, Director of KTU Department of Study Management as the Acting Vice-Rector for Studies. Asta Pundzienė, current Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation will continue in the position as the Acting Vice-Rector. They will work in the appointed positions until the new Rector is elected.

During the same meeting, the Council has formed the work group for the upcoming rector elections. The work group, consisting of the Chairman Dalius Misiūnas, and the Council members Kęstutis Šliužas, Kęstutis Baltakys and Žilvinas Kalvanas, was assigned the task to review the existing rector election procedure, to form the requirements for the candidates for the University Rector’s position, and to design the plan for the election process.

The Council has also affirmed the faculty structure changes related to the ongoing University research management reform, and has approved the alterations in the University funds and property management.
