54 students from Indiana University, the United States of America, interested in studies and internship in the Baltic States have visited Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) earlier this week.

“The KTU campus tour was the first on our route. The students were very excited about this trip and the possibility of getting to live in the Baltics for a semester or even a year”, said Jenny Elliff, the coordinator of the visit.

The students learned about life and studies at KTU: from short-term courses through exchange programmes to degree studies (admissions.ktu.edu). The introduction was followed with the presentation from Leisure Affairs Coordinator Ugnė Zieniūtė from ESN (Erasmus Student Network) KTU, who had introduced the main activities, events and trips organised by the university and ESN KTU.

Later, the American students visited the main laboratories of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, established by the international companies and the Faculty. The KTU campus tour was a great success among the students; the next one for the other group will take place in June this year.

According to Neringa Narbutienė, Head of the KTU Department for Internationalisation, this visit not only provided a possibility to introduce the University, but also rendered an opportunity to communicate with prospective students who may come to KTU for a semester, an internship over the summer or for degree studies.

“KTU is aiming to expand the geography of students. Americans are curious and very interested in possibilities to study abroad. We can see that by the growing interest in KTU study programmes on global study choice platforms”, said Narbutienė.

KTU is constantly developing collaboration with the US universities not only by sharing good practice examples, but also by planning joint study programmes and other activities. Since last year, KTU and University of Central Florida are participating in Erasmus+ academic mobility project together; KTU has been a research university for Fulbright scholars for several years now. At the moment, one American student is studying at KTU.
