Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) was the initiator and organiser of the most BALTECH (Baltic Sea Region University Consortium for Science and Technology) events in 2016. The International PhD Summer School, administrative staff meeting on the topic of Alumni Associations and the meeting of the Baltic technical universities’ student union representatives were among the highlights of the events organised by KTU.
With the help of BALTECH, KTU organised first international PhD Summer School in August 2017, which attracted 43 doctoral students from 14 countries. Organised by Department of Research Affairs at KTU the PhD Summer School was aimed at developing essential skills needed for writing scientific articles, doctoral theses and project proposals, to provide participants with good networking opportunities. The lectures at the three-day intensive course were delivered by the speakers from Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Latvia and Switzerland.
In November KTU was organised an administrative staff meeting on the topic “Alumni associations and their development within universities”. During the meeting workshops, leaders of alumni organisations of BALTECH universities had the chance to gather information about other organisations, to learn about best examples in attracting of members and to share the experience.
In the end of the year representatives from student unions of Riga Technical University, Tallinn University of Technology, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and KTU met in Lithuania for an annual student meeting. Meeting was organised by the KTU Student Union.
This year student representatives were discussing student feedback systems and compared the existing examples in their institutions. During the workshops the students had the chance to come up with their own projects and ideas on perfect student feedback schemes.

However, as agreed in BALTECH Board meeting in Odense, 2016, applicants can use their approved mobility in later periods, so that they can apply beforehand and plan their time better.
