Meet Najeeb Hasan – a Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) graduate from India, who graduated from KTU in 2015. During the interview back then, he was an intern at United Nations headquarters in Budapest, Hungary. Now, two years later, Najeeb is not only fully employed by UN, but also has a diplomatic status.
“My dream job to work with UN has come true and I am really thankful to KTU, which provided me with many opportunities, while studying away from home. And I come from a very small village, hard to find on Google maps”, says Najeeb.
After the 11-month internship, he was hired by the UN as a Human Resources consultant, and later he applied for a secure job at United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Since March 2016 Najeeb Hasan has a diplomatic status with UNHCR, and is now working in HR/Payroll unit of the organisation.
Back in 2015, while talking about his experiences in Lithuania and Budapest, Najeeb said that he was missing India’s colours, food and festivals, but was happy to have experienced a different way of life. He was planning to reach for substantial goals: “I would like to pursue a PhD degree in the Netherlands or in another European country. I will also try to achieve a permanent position at the UN.”
We are happy and proud to see that KTU graduate’s wishes had come true and are wishing him luck in the future endeavours.
