A unique people flow counting technology SEMSEYE, created by Paulius Lengvenis, a doctoral student at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) has been recognised in the final of “Challenge UP!” in Warsaw. The start-up company SEMS Technologies from Lithuania was chosen among 12 finalists from the 300 applicants by the experts from Cisco, Intel and Deutche Telekom.

SEMSEYE is a solution comprised of one or more devices mounted on the ceiling, a data centre based on cloud computing and a web site where registered users can browse the statistics of people flow and configure the devices.

SEMSEYE, created by SEMS Technologies, a young company established at KTU’s Santaka Valley, is a sophisticated people flow technology, unique of its kind. SEMSEYE is compatible with the most popular web browsing programmes, it has charts’ creating feature and provides data for in-depth statistical analysis. The platform enables companies to effective cost-distributing by lowering costs and increasing income by 10-15 per cent.

SEMSEYE is being used by Omnitel, Teo, Avitela and other large Lithuanian companies.

Challenge UP!, initiated by Cisco, Intel and Deutche Telekom offers a support programme for start-ups offering information technologies based products and systems. During the programme, technology and business experts mentor the young entrepreneurs by rendering invaluable knowledge and advice on introducing new ideas into the market.

SEMSEYE creators have already participated in one of the activities – Turbo accelerators’ week in Krakow.

“It was a very busy week – we met numerous engineers, top technology experts and business representatives. Among our new contacts are representatives from Cisco, Intel and T- Mobile, and we have excellent opportunities for further development of our ideas and products”, says KTU PhD student Paulius Lengvenis.

Young Lithuanian entrepreneurs have been awarded a 4 months’ of business development programme. During this period the team will work in Berlin, Vienna, Tel Aviv and London.

In 2013 SEMSEYE was allotted Lithuanian Innovation of the Year Award, and the company started to collaborate with TEO, a part of TeliaSonera Group, which provides telecommunication services in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The flow counting solution service can be acquired from TEO for a monthly fee of 15 EUR.
