Congratulations to the 101st Graduating Class of KTU!

Important | 2024-06-21

Today the 101st Graduating Class of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) were awarded their diplomas on a spectacular 3600 stage at Kaunas Žalgiris Arena. This year, 1,542 masters and bachelors were graduating from KTU. A concert by a popular music band Sisters on Wire provided a perfect finishing touch to the event.

In addition to bachelor’s and master’s, a record number of doctoral diplomas – more than 30 – were awarded. This year, the first Graduating Class of KTU MBA was also going on the stage to collect their degree certificates.

“This moment is the result of several years of hard work and determination. Today you are KTU alumni, KTU ambassadors, so raise the KTU flag high. I wish you a simple thing – be happy. Is that easy to say? It is. But what is happiness and how to achieve it? I don’t have a recipe, I can only share my experience – consistently search for meaning, because only by standing firmly on the ground will you be happy”, said KTU Rector Prof. Dr Eugenijus Valatka in his graduation tribute.

“Living and studying in Lithuania has taught me resilience and an incredible capacity to adapt. I have experienced things here that I would never have experienced before. I have had many difficult times, but every challenge has been a lesson and every setback a step forward,” said Zeynep Eylul Guleryuz, a KTU GIFTed student from the Faculty of Informatics.

In her speech, she congratulated her classmates and other graduates and recalled the most memorable moments from her study years.

This year, all the graduates were invited to collect their diplomas on the big stage.

“All graduates are important and deserve special attention. That’s how our team came up with the idea to build a large 3600 stage to fit them all with a 50-metre LED screen suspended above it. On the screen, the guests could see their dear ones receiving their diplomas at the same time it was happening on the stage,” says Eglė Šidlauskienė, Head of the KTU Creative Team.

According to Evelina Baltuškaitė, Head of the KTU Events Department, this year the University’s events team attempted to focus on each graduating student, and to personalise the graduation ceremony itself.

In addition to the impressive 3600 stage, the KTU graduates were also treated to other surprise performances – the concert by the Lithuanian indie hop band Sisters on Wire, the KTU brass band The BrassBees, the Jaunystė Academic Choir and the Nemunas Folk Art Ensemble, and the performance by KTU dance studio MoDance.
