Backstage Tour at Kaunas National Drama Theatre

Important | 2019-09-27

On Wednesday, October 2 Kaunas National Drama Theatre is inviting Kaunas international students, residents and the city guests to the backstage theatre tour. The tour will be held in English, and the translation will be delivered by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students.

The participants of the event will have a possibility to explore the main spaces of the theatre: The Main Hall, The Ruth stage and The Small Hall. They will also visit a props workshop, where performance decorations and all sorts of items used in the performance are being born.

“Theatre backstage tours, that we have been organising for a couple of seasons now, are loved by the most diverse audiences – from the smallest theatre lovers to the seniors. We hope that our international guests and residents to whom this might be their first visit to the Lithuanian theatre will similarly enjoy the tour in English. Although we have been showing theatre plays with English subtitles or synchronic translation for several years, we are constantly aiming to find new ways to entertain our visitors. I believe that the visit to the mysterious, but also very realistic backstage can be a perfect way to enjoy theatre in a different way”, says Jolanta Garnytė-Jadkauskienė, Press Officer at Kaunas National Drama Theatre.

The tour will appeal to the theatre lovers – it will let you visit the scenes, meet the masters working in their workshops and hear their stories, and also to those who are curious about how art is being born, and how the play is transformed from the text into the show.

The duration of the tour: 1 hr.

Ticket price is EUR 4 Eur per person. Tickets are available at the Theatre’s box-office and all Tiketa box-offices as well as on www.tiketa.lt website.

Box-office is open from Monday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., break 3.30–4.00 p.m.
