Annotation: This dissertation provides a broad comprehensive framework serving to determine the interrelation between carbon emissions, digitalization, economic and financial impact. This is achieved by providing an assessment of the current literature and applying quantitative evaluation techniques to answer the main research question: how are digitalization and carbon emission reduction related and how do they influence the economy? Thus, the main aim of the dissertation to develop and empirically apply an integrated analytical framework for evaluating the interrelation between carbon emission reduction, digitalization, energy dynamics, economic growth, and corporate financial performance at the country, sector and firm-level. To overcome gaps in the current literature new digitalization variables are proposed and country and sectoral differences are explored. The research opens the way for policy developers to create country or sector specific policies to further lower down the emissions, which is necessary to reach the climate goals, and maintain focus on the areas that benefit the most. The results for digitalization confirm the complexity in the impact assessment of this phenomenon. For the EU policy developers, the results of the interaction analysis show differences between the EU and global firms in the main relations, which is important in the assessment of the competitive advantage of the EU firms. The obtained results provide insights highlighting for which sectors CFP, carbon emissions and energy intensity are impacted the most by carbon emission reduction, thus providing insights for the targeted policies.
