Annotation: The doctoral dissertation analyzes the aesthetics of sustainable architecture and its various expressions, along with exploring the potential for creating aesthetically appealing and sustainable architectural designs. The research includes a historical analysis of sustainable architecture development and its historical connections with ethical ideas. It also examines existing architectural objects in the Baltic Sea region and evaluates sustainable building certification systems as well as architectural quality criteria. This dissertation introduces a classification of sustainable buildings and proposes a methodology for evaluating them based on theoretical approaches. Additionally, the study presents the results of a sociological study that explores the social-psychological acceptability of the directions of sustainable architecture. In this dissertation aesthetics is perceived as a comprehensive sensory experience, which is based on a wider spectrum of senses necessary for a high-quality architectural environment.
