KTU engages in the activities of international academic networks and associations that help shape European higher education policy. This involvement is significant at the institutional level, as it reinforces the University’s role as an active contributor to higher education policy and provides opportunities to participate in key decision-making processes.

Baltic University Programme (BUP) »

The programme promotes greater awareness, collaboration, and partnerships among the academic communities of higher education institutions in the Baltic Sea and its delta region, as well as interdisciplinary research in the areas of sustainability, environmental protection, and regional development.

Launched in 1991, the programme currently brings together nearly 120 members from 10 countries.

Copernicus Alliance »

The European University and College Alliance, which brings together higher education institutions, researchers, and lecturers committed to integrating sustainable development principles into study programmes and academic activities. The Alliance provides a platform for sharing best practices and resources, as well as for jointly developing innovative educational approaches that support the implementation of sustainable development initiatives.

The Alliance dates back to 1993 and currently has around 30 members.

European University Association (EUA) »

An organisation representing universities and national rectors’ conferences, which plays an important role in the Bologna Process and influences EU policy-making in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation. By working with various organisations, the EUA ensures that the voice of European universities is heard where decisions affecting their activities are taken. The Association provides unique expertise in the fields of higher education and research, and also serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and best practices between universities.

Established in 2001, it has grown into a community of more than 900 members and associated organisations representing over 50 countries.
