Research group - Technologies of Functional Materials

Scientific activities and significant results achieved:
1) Development and evaluation of multifunctional materials (metals, alloys, (bio)polymers, (nano)composites, textiles, leather, etc.) for biomedical and innovative industries application:
- adapted technologies for micro/nanofiber membranes made from synthetic and natural polymers (collagen, keratin) with the addition of bioactive materials by electrospinning for tissue engineering, wound dressings, etc.;
- developed technology for obtaining composites from wood and ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer foam industrial waste; - developed tools for monitoring, control and optimization of manufacturing processes for metal processing companies.
2) Development and evaluation of advanced coatings:- antimicrobial, superhydrophobic, anti-freezing and other functional coatings are being developed. New type of silicone coatings with high antimicrobial effectiveness protected by US patent (Patent US11033580B2).
3) Development of smart manufacturing processes and evaluation of their qualitative parameters and technological systems reliability:- manufacturing processes are automated, digitalized and modelled by integration of robotics solutions.
4) Use of additive manufacturing technologies for the creation and development of high efficiency composite structures:  developed additive manufacturing technologies for fabrication of continuous fibre reinforced polymer composite structures and structures with optical sensors for structural applications.
