The Social Value of Social Business in Response to the Challenges of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals

Project description:

The research project is aimed at revealing the social value of social business in response to the challenges of the SDGs implementation in Lithuania. The aim of the research is to determine the value created by social business in the aspect of implementation of the sustainable development goals in Lithuania. The objectives of the research: 1) to perform a theoretical analysis of the impact of social business in the aspect of implementation of the sustainable development goals; 2) to reveal the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on social business when implementing the SDGs; 3) to evaluate the activities carried out by SB organisations and the value created in responding to the challenges of the SDGs implementation.

Project funding:

This research project is funded by the European Social Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments, under measure’s No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712 activity “Promotion of postdoctoral fellowships studies”.


Project results:

The following activities are planned for the implementation of the project: the theoretical analysis of the concept of social impact, determination of the assessment methodology, measure; conducting Lithuania-wide empirical research; processing and analysis of the empirical research data; collecting good practice during the internship(s) at a foreign science institution or research center, preparing a scientific study on the subject, preparing and publishing a scientific publication in a journal referenced in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science database, publicizing and disseminating of the research (preparing and presenting reports at international conferences, popular science articles); preparation and presentation of the final research report. It is expected that the results of the research project will create preconditions for revealing the social value created by social business in response to the challenges of the SDGs implementation in Lithuania, as well as to understand how the changes created by SB contribute to the implementation of the SDGs. This is important to prove that social business plays an important role in solving social and environmental issues in the society.
