A new technology is being developed to create medical dressings for acute and chronic wounds, formed by electrospraying nanofibres. Nanofibre compositions are produced using hydrolysates of proteins (collagen, keratin) of high concentration and good spinnability, developed by original technology. The hydrolysates are modified with biopolymers (chitosan, alginate, hyaluronic acid) and biologically active plant components with antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Project funding:
This research project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments under measure No. 01.2.2-MITA-K-702 “Promoting the Commercialisation and Internationalisation of R&D”.
Project results:
Technology for the formulation of antimicrobial medical dressings made of protein nano-microstructures has been developed for the treatment of acute and chronic wounds.
