Tailored porosity lightweight alkali activated binder based on red clay

Project no.: 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-19-0220

Project description:

The aim of the project is to obtain a porous, lightweight material using alkali-activated binder (AAB). Thermal-treated (calcined) red clay will be used as an aluminosilicate precursor. A high strength AAB matrix will be developed and a porous material will be made using this data. It is planned to analyze the possible use of industrial waste and by-products that will be reused as raw materials in the alkaline activation process, effectively contributing to the circular economy. Among the wastes are calcined red clay, silica gel waste, fly ash and biomass bottom ash.
